How it started

FARM FROZEN was born out of a need to find quality local meat at a reasonable price. 
I was doing the shopping and noticed how meat prices were constantly rising and the quality of the products were slipping. I knew that I was not alone, with many in the community looking for a better way. I shared my concerns with my wife about meat prices and the impact on us and the community. My wife encouraged me to do something about it.

I began my search to find a solution for my needs and serve my local community. My prerequisite was quality New Zealand meat and no grain fed imports, from who knows where. My measure of reasonable price is competitive with the supermarkets like Countdown (I still struggle to call it Woolworths). 

When I shop, I make the meal plan for the week, aiming to have Burger Friday and BBQ on Saturday. I find the best meat I can get at a reasonable price and then take that for a journey around the shop, into the vehicle and maybe a stop off at Mitre 10 for a coffee and some supplies before getting home and putting the meat in the freezer. 

Farm Frozen brings you snap frozen quality meat from our freezers to yours with freshness locked in. I could wax on about why snap frozen meat is better than chilled meat, but I think I will leave that to the experts and might put up a link on the website when it’s up. 

So, what’s the deal? I am not offering every cut of meat, rather focussing on the core items that make up the Sunday to Friday meal plans (like mince, stir fry, steak, chicken thighs, lamb chops, pork chops and to serve a few of the wider community we are doing some venison, goat and maybe even duck).

As these are frozen fresh products, we would love for someone to be at home to receive the order. To help with that, we are working with our delivery partner to offer afternoon and evening deliveries. If the order is not going to be received in person, packaging will be required to protect and preserve the frozen meats until you get home.
I would suggest you leave a cooler box at your front door or a set location for your order to be delivered.   

We aim to start with the best outcome in mind and that involves a strong directive from our children about the need for sustainable packaging. To that end, I have been looking at cutting back the waste associated with order packaging, hence the cooler box. Courier orders will be packaged in a recyclable cardboard courier bag and transported in a temperature-controlled courier van. 

I have slashed the margins and negotiated with our wonderful suppliers for the best rates possible to serve our community. It becomes a numbers game. Low margins means that I need lots of you to buy weekly to keep the service running. The numbers game also works for discounts: the more meat we move, the bigger the discount we can get and the bigger savings we can pass on to you, the community.

Check your meal plan and choose your meat to match. We offer you full choice of what to add in your order, (you could have children that only eat mince and chicken drumsticks, that’s fine).
We will cater to your weekly, fortnightly and monthly orders as well as planned party or event catering requirements. Email me your special requirements and we can make it happen. 

**UPDATE**

We now offer click and collect, local delivery in the East Coast Bays for $8 (same as Countdown) and courier delivery for orders based further. (Courier and boxing costs will apply, but I am negotiating discounts for you from our valued suppliers and delivery partners). 

We have gone through a few teething issues to start and now offer next working day delivery.

·       Place your order with delivery address and time after which delivery can be received in person. If you choose to use a cooler box, send a photo of it in an agreed location, and we will do the rest 

·       Mince, diced and stir-fry is pretty accurate, but steaks and chops have a slight variance in weight by up to 5% each way.
